OK, it was just a matter of time once I put up the new bird feeder last month. This afternoon I watched a squirrel finally figure out how to get to the feeder. Bummer!

Rob,
I've lived in Hunterdon County for over 35 years and have seen it all pertaining to squirrels. I finally solved the problem with Stokes caged tube feeders. They are expensive, but worth it if you're not feeding the squirrels all the time. Here's a link for them on Amazon.

Though you may be able to find them a little cheaper somewhere else. They are really great and I recommend them to everyone because they are easier to fill than other caged feeders and they really do confound the squirrels.

Try wrapping the pole in a slinky. It really works! Also, I do use a baffle and it works most of the time. Plus, I simply offer an alternative feeder for the squirrels to tempt them away from the one I want the birds to go to! You can see pictures of my set up on my blog.
