My very first post on this blog, 21 years ago, was a successful Thanksgiving Wild Turkey search with my three kids. We tried it several other years, but with mixed results, and finally it wasn't feasible.
This year there is a Wild Turkey flock that I sometimes see a few miles from our new home in Mendon, NY. This Thanksgiving my oldest was in town, so we slipped out for a few minutes to search for them. With luck! We FaceTimed my wife at home, my son studying in Morocco, and my youngest daughter on her LDS mission in Denmark. They all got virtual digiscope views of the flock foraging in a distant corn field.
Facebook killed blogging. I'm not in a hurry to join Substack. I rarely post here. But enjoying a Turkey Day flock of Wild Turkeys again to revisit where this all started, feels like coming full circle.
