Bird Flu on Oprah

Oprah did a whole episode today about bird flu (see highlights here). Oprah seems to have done a good job reviewing the fundamentals of bird flu with Dr. Michael Osterholm of the University of Minnesota. Some good ideas about how to prepare for pandemic flu. Oprah Winfrey Show watchers wanting to find out more about bird flu should check out the information pages at for info on human health issues, and ProMed emails for the latest news about bird flu outbreaks around the world. And just to be sure everyone is on the same page--if there is a pandemic flu, it will be spread by people, not wild birds. Right now, the outbreaks in Asia and Europe appear to be tied to the movement of infected ducks, chickens, and their wastes.
