Kamikaze Grouse

A friend of mine snapped this photo with her camera phone. She had arrived at her home in the Catskills last week to find this Ruffed Grouse dead on her coffee table. It had crashed through two panes of glass before dying next to this bird book. Bird breaking and entry, what's next?

Unbelievable!

Maybe the bird was having an identity crisis and was trying to find out if it was indeed a Ruffled Grouse. That is until the panes of plate glass got in the way.

The same thing happened to a friend of mine in central Mass. His son was sitting down at the table for breakfast and the bird came crashing through the window and ended up almost right next to him. Quite the wake up call.
