Party Wren is in Da House Tonight!

Everybody's gonna have a good time!

I watched this House Wren building a nest in a box at Voorhees State Park in Hunterdon County, NJ today.  Interestingly, he didn't want to use the official nest entrance hole, but insisted on going in and out of the more protected ventilation hole at the top right above the "real" nest hole!

A pet is always a nice thing to have back home and if you are not so fond of dogs and cats then birds would certainly be your next choice. Among birds, Parakeet makes for one of the best companions you can have. They are lively, engage with humans and are highly interactive. Most Parakeets would sing and can be real fun to have as a pet. While everything seems to be pretty bright, Parakeet care is an essential subject that needs detailed discussion. Caring for a dog or a cat would be far simpler than Parakeet Care.

Ventalation hole eh? Hmmm, we don't have one of those. But, we do have wrens nesting in one of our bluebird boxes, not far from bluebirds nesting in our other bluebird box, and after a two year hiatus, we have barn swallows nesting in our Martin house. All pretty close together.
I did try to discourage the wrens from taking over the house, but, I lost in the end, and since they have all nested near each other for years now I just left the wrens.
Soon the bluebirds will be bringing their babies to the mealworm feeder, an exciting time!
